Autumn Wedding

One of my oldest and best friends was married this past weekend. I suppose I should clarify when I say she's one of my oldest friends ... it's because I've known her for a long time, not because she's old! She and I met in 8th grade, we went to high school for 4 years together and roomed together for 4 years of college.

In the past 5 years, my dear friend has battled and defeated a 3 very serious health issues. Last year she met the love of her life, and she is now living her happily ever after.

I was not her wedding photographer, but I took my camera along, of course, and took all kinds of pictures. I really struggled with the lighting on some of these pictures, but they turned out okay.

Also, with all of the orange in these pictures, I'm entering them for this week's "Orange" photo challenge over at You Capture.

One of my friends took a picture of our family for us with my camera before the reception started.

It was such a beautiful day! The weather was perfect and we were able to celebrate such a happy occasion with many dear friends.

Obstacle Course

A couple days ago the kids set up an obstacle course in the driveway.

Here's Middle Child navigating his way through it.

Why, yes, that's his sister's purple bike helmet he's wearing. Why do you ask?

Summer Continues

Yes, it's still summer, although I'd be much happier if it was June or even July rather than August already. I am NOT ready for school to start again at the end of the month! At any rate, I'm going to enjoy the summer break while we have it.

The theme for the week at You Capture is "Summer." Last weekend we went camping with a group of people from our church. The campground had a pool, and we spent a LOT of time there, and I took a bunch of pictures that fit You Capture's theme.

Jumping in the pool quickly became the activity of choice for the boys.
Here I Go!

Before the Splash

When Hubby and I first tried to coax the Youngest to jump in the pool into Hubby's arms, Hubby practically had to pull him in. The second time the Youngest kept squatting down, and we kept telling him to stand up and jump. He squatted and stood about 5 times before jumping in. After that, jumping in was almost all he wanted to do!

Eight

Middle Child celebrated his 8th birthday this past week.

I'm not sure how many Star Wars figures he put on his cake, but we had to be sure to place the candles carefully so that none of the figures burned!

"Black and White" is this week's theme at You Capture. Click on the link to see more black and white pics.

Parked Permanently

This week's theme at You Capture is "Vehicles."

I took this picture of our neighbor's truck for the challenge.

I think it's parked there for good. See the plant growing through the outer left side of the truck bed?

Be sure to check out more pictures of vehicles at You Capture.

Hand Sandwich

Your choice! You can choose between the following three topics, but you can only choose one!

1. Green
2. Hands
3. Chairs

Happy Capturing, friends!

Hand Sandwich

I got some help from our 3 youngest to take this pic and obviously went with the "Hands" theme.

Hello, Toad!

The kids found a toad in the grass yesterday and caught it. They used the bottom of a cardboard apple box and made a whole environment for it, complete with grass, rocks, and an old ice cream bucket lid full of water and a bit of sand. Quite the digs!

I asked our oldest son to take the toad out of the box and set it in the grass so I could get a good picture of it.

Hello, Toad!

The challenge at You Capture this week is "Get Down Low". You can't get much lower than this since I was lying on my belly in the grass when I took it!

Mr. Toad was very cooperative during his portrait session. I think he only hopped away from me once when I was taking his picture.

I asked Oldest Son to put Mr. Toad back in his temporary home when I was done photographing him. No, I did not want to touch the ugly little creature! Oldest Son had no qualms about it though!

You Capture: Water

I took this picture of my youngest niece playing in the water when we were at the beach with Hubby's brother and his family. I was happy to see the "You Capture" challenge for the week was "water" because I had just taken this picture 3 days before the challenge started, and I knew it would be perfect. Talk about great timing!
